Goal: To provide pre-married couples or married couples with professional couple counseling. This service will enhance their mutual understanding and acceptance, assist them in the learning of effective communication and conflict management skills, and to build up a strong and healthy marital relationship.
Format: Couple counseling. A total of 7 sessions. First session is about an hour, following six
sessions will be an hour and a half each. Total will be 10 hours.
Contents & Learning Topics:
1 Introduction and Orientation, Assessment of Marriage Expectations.
2 Feedback on Inventory Scoring Results, Communication exercise (I), to identify and discuss relationship strengths and areas of growth.
3 Communication exercise (II), to identify and discuss personality issues and communication styles.
4 Conflict Management and Solution Finding Exercise.
5 Family of Origin, how it affect personality and couple interaction.
6 Personal, Couple and Family Goals: Financial Planning and Budgeting.
7 Personal, Couple and Family Goals: Understanding Stages of Change and Setting Appropriate Goals.
Program Characteristics:
1 This program primarily will use the PREPARE/ENRICH PROGRAM materials designed by Dr. David H. Olson. By completing an Inventory and with the reviewing of the results, the couple will be helped to understand the strength and the growth areas in their relationship. This will help the couple to focus their efforts in an on-going learning process to build a strong marriage.
2 If the couple prefer, can add using other personality tests such as: Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis to enrich the counseling process. An additional $100 will be charged for this test.
3. All our counselors are dedicated Christians and professionally trained. They all have a Master's Degree in Counseling or Christian Education. They are experienced and have completed specialized training in conducting marital counseling program. Services can be provided in English, Mandarin and Cantonese as well.
4. Toward the end of the counseling program, and based on each couple's need, we will refer the couple to participate in other marriage enrichment class, support groups and other appropriate counseling activities.
Fee: $700 (including Test and Scoring fee)
Fee Payment Arrangement:
a. Can mail in $400(Part of the full fee) first, we will then set up arrangements for the couple to complete the testing on-line, then start the first appointment for introduction and orientation. The balance of $300 will be due by the fourth meeting.
b. If the couple prefer, can set up first appointment to meet with counselor, then pay $400 after the session, we will then set up arrangements to complete the testing on-line, and set up future appointments for additional meetings. The $300 balance will be due by the fourth meeting.
